After leaving most of us with high expectations following day one, it was very clear which designers planned to show up and show out for the finale.

Although we were in the middle of Manhattan, VIVRE Canvas Couture brought vacation vibes to New York’s concrete streets with their colorful displays of fruit, flowers, and other  staples that come to mind when you think of paradise.

The Palm Beach collection was created by designer Kristen Alice and artist Sarah LaPierre, to showcase the beautiful city along the South Florida coast. The inspiration behind the wearable art is that “No matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”

Each item whether it be a bow tie, elegant gown, or a pair of shoes, is hand painted to perfection. The duo uses bodied acrylic paint, fine artist canvas, and linen to bring their pieces to life, taking anywhere from eight to eighty hours from start to finish. Their tropical collection is a wonderful display of what can happen when you blend nature’s elements with an artist’s talent and designer’s skill.

Indonesian designer Anniesa Hasibuan showed us all how to integrate culture and couture with her glamours muslim inspired gowns with matching hijabs, being the first designer to do so last year.

Her latest collection, PearlAsia features a royal theme that comes from Lombok which is an island located in Indonesia. Anniesa Hasibuan: “I believe fashion is one of the outlets in which we can start a cultural shift in today’s society to normalize hijab in America as to break down stereotypes and demystify misconceptions.”

Bringing modesty to the modern fashion movement, she proves that adding culture to fashion can be mainstream.

Class and sophistication is what comes to mind when you think of Spanish designer Isabel Zapardiez’s collection. Known for bridal dressmaking, she showed interest in pattern design and sewing very early in her career.

The detailed tailoring and unique fabrics left the audience in awe as she mastered how to combine simplicity and elaborate headpieces to represent what couture is all about.

Creativity and innovation came into play as her models graced the runway in her pieces that were tailored to perfection. Her breathtaking designs made her a top contender at the show. Zapardiez’s creations are as exquisite and delicate as the women she designs them for.
